A historic and rare model designed by the legendary Ray Hunt as a new and improved version of his 31 Bertram Moppie hull, with wider beam and taller freeboard achieving a more stable and dry ride. Only 46 of these hulls were made before Bertram filed a lawsuit, halting their production. With an 11'11" beam and whopping 12,300 lbs, the 30ft Sportsman is considered one of the most sturdy and stable boats ever designed. These boats have incredible performance and are very sought after among those who acknowledge their provenance. She won Best in Show at Balboa Yacht Club 2024. The owner has won this award for 4 different boats, proving his attention to care and stewardship of his vessels. This particular example was purchased from Lake Minnetonka and has been comprehensively restored over 3 years with a resto-mod approach. The design refinements and mechanical upgrades were planned and executed by a passionate owner. The results of which evidenced in a contemporary version of the Ray Hunt Sportsman, yet retains its original essence and DNA.
